A former House of Representatives member,
Nze Chidi Duru and a senior lawyer, Smart Iheazor, were tried before a
Magistrate Court in the Tinubu area of Lagos Island over allegation of
stealing. The duo, residents of Abuja, are both senior lawyers of 28 and
30 years of experience in the Bar. The police preferred against them a
four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, breach of peace and
impersonation.
The defendants and their accomplices who are still at
large allegedly committed the offences at 65 Kudirat Abiola Way,
Oregun, Ikeja Lagos on January 11, 2017. The prosecutor told the court
that the defendants and others stole three office files and one HP
Laptop valued at 250,000 Naira, property of First Guarantee Pension
Limited (FGPL). He also said that the duo conducted themselves in a
manner likely to cause breach of peace by wilfully and unlawfully
invading First Guarantee Pension Ltd office with intent to forcefully
take over the management and assets of the company.
